false 2009-09-11T13:50:02-04:00 The Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Science Fiction Society (WPI SFS) will be hosting a weekend of Live Action Roleplaying games (LARPs) in November on the WPI campus. This event is free, and new players are encouraged to sign up. The event will run from <b>Friday, November 13th to Sunday, November 15th</b>. Games at this event are unrelated to one another, and you can sign up for as many or as few games as you would like.<br> <br> For those unfamiliar with LARPs, they are very similar to improv acting, but with more structure and less audience. In most LARPs, you will receive a character sheet, a short story about your character that says what you know, who you are, what you can do, who you know, and what you are trying to accomplish. The games that will be run at this event require no prior experience or knowledge (new players are highly encouraged!) and each game is a standalone affair. You are encouraged to costume appropriately for the games, but not required to do so. Characters are pre-written, and most games have a short questionnaire that will help the people who run the games (the GMs) place you in a role that you will enjoy. Some games are serious, some are silly, and each game has its own style and rules. The core purpose of any game though is to have fun.<br> <br> <br> <b>Game signups are open.</b><br> <br> <b>Note:</b> This site uses the same user database as the Brandeis Festival of the LARPs (and many other recent local LARP events).
